About Tomer
Tomer Sagi is a Senior IT Project Manager who has been managing software projects using RUP, Prince2 and Agile methodologies for the past 4 years. He has introduced companies to agile methods and practices including Scrum, Scrum-ban, Lean and TDD. His core skills lie in achieving tangible results in intense, high-stress and complex environments. He worked in industries including Government, Advertising, Education, Web-Development and managed direct team members between 2 to 13 and up to 130 indirectly.
He managed small to medium projects ranging between $5k (small web-site) to $300k (SAP-based secure electronic signage and distribution solution). His biggest achievement to date was managing a $24m large J2EE software migration program for the Ministry of Social Development in Wellington, New Zealand. His role included managing a team of 13 Business Analysts, other program's project managers (both internally and externally) and managing the overall schedule, risks, issues, collaboration infrastructure and vendor engagement.
He is passionate about improving project delivery effectiveness by establishing communication, collaboration and governance frameworks. He achieved this by using EDRMS, Issues Management systems, and establishing workflows, processes and meetings schedule to address all project needs.
His approach to managing projects and teams is consultative, visionary-based and objective-driven. He uses design and visualization concepts as an integral part of his work and tends to explain his thoughts and ideas using diagrams. He loves working with people and loves creating a team culture
Tomer has a deep understanding of software development as he started his IT career as a developer, gaining 3 years of development experience using Java (J2EE), ColdFusion, ASP, Visual Basic, JavaScript and SQL. He then invested about 2 years as a Business / Systems Analyst where he took lead roles in mentoring colleagues in RUP, UML, OOAD and Design Patterns. After that he spent 2 years as a Software / Solution Architect dabbling with SOA and ESB concepts and Zachman and Bredemeyer frameworks.
At that point he started the company Chaos Dimention with the goal of creating a visual standard for communicating and interacting with information using 3D at its core. Due to internal and external challenges the company has shifted from software development to providing Project Management professional services led by Tomer. Today he continues to provide Project Management services.
Tomer's personal interests are design and visualization and most recently marketing and business. He tries to merge all his knowledge and experience from the different fields into a robust project delivery methodology. His hobbies are sports (running and weights), playing piano, having coffees, driving fast, listening to latest songs, spending time with Ethan and travelling. Flying a plane and helicopter are his biggest passions.
